Shelco is seeking a Business Development Manager reporting to Vice President (S Doughton) to assist in developing new business within its Triad office. The Business Development Manager’s primary duties will be identifying new business opportunities by cold calling, networking, and maintaining relationships with prospects. Including, Architects, Real Estate Brokers, end-user facility managers, 3rd party construction project managers, economic developers, and other construction-related clients. Other duties will include attending construction-related conferences, luncheons, and other events. Prepare weekly client updates for the manager to review.

 

An ideal candidate will possess:

  • Demonstrated ability in business-to-business (B2B) sales/relationship building
  • Cold Calling experience/willingness to make cold calls
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with construction project management methodologies
  • Familiarity with the construction industry a plus but not a requirement
  • Be a team player
  • Proficiency with Microsoft word, excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability and willingness to travel to select construction related conferences & meetings
  • 1+ years of experience

 

Responsibilities:

  • Comprehensive lead generation and prospecting within the assigned region; identifying prospective customers and leads from a variety of sources.
  • Create new prospects and set meetings for the Vice President to meet with client
  • Ability to efficiently track client interactions and manage time appropriately
  • Building and maintaining a network of referral sources.
  • Utilizing qualifying methods to prioritize opportunities and recommend the allocation of preconstruction resources and strategies for complex sales.
  • Reviewing/analyzing proposal requirements including schedule, programming, drawings, specifications, and owners' project requirements; coordinating proposal activities with internal preconstruction, sales/marketing, and operations teams; managing the schedule and client communications through the project development cycle
  • Work and collaborate with team members on client engagement and relationship-building
  • Attend construction-related conferences
  • Assist in client interview preparation
